About Us

Travelling with local experts…

whl.travel is an innovative business model consisting of a global network of franchises to build a network of local partners in destinations all around the world. The company’s goal is to more easily reach travel products from the developing world and scribe them onto the internet. This allows for the locally based operators to to access information by speaking with local accommodations and tour providers in their native language and pairs that knowledge with the centralized whl office that can handle the technology and web marketing aspects of the business to create a complete product. We have found experienced and knowledgeable local tourism specialists in Peru that are working towards a more sustainable future and want to develop the Peruvian tourism industry in a responsible manner.

The local Peruvian connections have been individually selected based on several considerations such as their abilities to communicate efficiently with local providers, their quality of services and local reputations. We prefer to work with small, medium and micro businesses and look for partners that feel strongly about our quality standards in regards to site content maintenance, 24 hour response time for clients and focusing on content in relation to sustainable practices in their destinations.

Why book with locals…?

It is inevitable that travelling with have some sort of influence on the destination and, generally, it is negative for the environment, local culture or local communities. Sustainable travel is a way to be more conscious of one’s actions in a destination and travel the world while making an effort to improve it. In the last 50 years, technology has improved rapidly and made it increasingly easy for people to travel; we need to work with the local communities to help ensure that travel is a sustainable process for them, or the most sought out destinations will soon be in ruin.

We are proud to be a part of whl.travel’s innovative business model that contracts with local connections in all the destinations where we work. By doing business with the locals where you travel, you are contributing to the sustainability of that destination instead of only taking from its resources. By purchasing from the local Peruvian booking portals, this allows for the money to funnel back into the Peruvian infrastructure and contribute to its future. Once arriving for your vacation, we invite foreigners to venture outside the confines of a resort and chat with Peruvians; after all, they are the best source for learning about their culture. We encourage you to eat the local food and purchase from Peruvian establishments rather than international brands. As consumers, we have a great deal of power and every Peruvian Nuevo Sol spent, especially in poor areas, can make a world of difference.

Our South American team…

There is a whl.travel office for the South American region in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This centralized office is responsible for supporting all the active partners in the network, in addition to seeking out new local partners that will add fresh ideas and destinations to the territory.

The Belo Horizonte office opened its doors in March of 2008 and has since worked diligently to establish a sound support system and personal relationships with the local partners all over Latin America. One destination at a time, we are building a team of the best passionate and knowledgeable travel specialists to put forth reliable and original tourist information in commonly known and off the beaten track destinations. All the members of the whl.travel team share a common concern in developing sustainable practices in their destinations; to achieve this goal, local operators reach out to accommodations and tour providers that see value in a harmonious relationship between tourism and the local communities and surrounding environment.

This focus on travelling ‘locally’ sets whl.travel apart from other online travel providers. Our principle mission is to foster real connections between foreigners and local communities and enable a brand of tourism that empowers the local people to invest in their future through the preservation of history, culture and precious natural resources.

When piecing together a travel itinerary to see the best sights of Peru, be sure to contact one of our local connections to find out how to travel lightly and give back to Peruvians. There are currently destinations live in:
